Baits

In these pages, you will see many different types of sea bait that can be used from shore boat and kayak.

Some of these baits, are use more frequent than others, baits like the common shore crab, mackerel, sand eel, rag worm, lug worm, will probably account for 80% of baits used.

There is other baits are not so commonly used, but still, are just as deadly for catching certain species, baits like a hermit crab velvet, herring, sprats, cockle,s limpets, muscles, prawns and shrimps, white rag and King rag worm, squid.

Most of these baits can be harvested yourself within a couple of hours if you know where to go and what you're looking for this will save you an absolute fortune down at the tackle shop. As bait is probably our most expensive part of sea fishing.

Mackerel & herring
Mackerel is probably the most common bait used in the UK.

Blow lug
Red to brown in colour and only about 15cm in length this worm lives in a u shape burrow 
 
 
Mussel
not that commonly used as it can be difficult to keep on the hook.

black lug
